Dit jaar gaat het Europese technologische leiderschap hand in hand met SAP, waarvan het acroniem staat voor Systems, Applications and Products, met 111,29 in marktkapitalisatie en 44,28 in activa uitgedrukt in miljarden euro's. Op grote afstand gevolgd door Deutsche Telekom en Accenture met een zeer gelijkmatige marktkapitalisatie van respectievelijk 74,66 en 70,52.
Op het eerste gezicht zien we hoe de top 3 geleid wordt door de technologiesector, in tegenstelling tot de top 10 dat de balans meer neigt naar de sector Communicatie.
In tegenstelling tot andere continenten zou je kunnen zeggen dat Europa een enger land is als het gaat om innovatie. De hoge werkloosheid en de starheid van de arbeidsmarkt in landen als Spanje en Italië zijn niets meer dan belemmeringen voor innovatie en ondernemerschap.
